What makes us different?

We have a wide range of outstanding quality bronze and white turkeys to make this your best Christmas yet! Our turkeys have been hand reared over the course of 24 weeks and are fed on locally produced oats, wheat and barley. Our promise is to produce high welfare turkeys with the very best quality of life, full traceability and exceptional flavour on your Christmas day!

We feed our turkeys 30% more feed per kg of weight gained in comparison to intensively reared supermarket turkeys! Why? Despite this being costly, we feed large quantities of high quality feed to our birds to increase health, stop hangry behaviour (no one likes being hungry!) And to produce quality and flavoursome meat!

Our birds are stocked well below ‘free range’ regulations at 255 birds per acre in comparison to intensively reared supermarket turkeys which are housed at 16,000 birds per acre in barns! Why? We believe that our birds thrive on living as naturally as possible, they love to spread their wings and forage on their grass paddocks!

Intensively reared turkeys are fed on fattening specific diets that are designed for maximum weight gain in the shortest time! Why? We love to see our turkeys eating a wide variety of nutritious food! It has a positive impact on meat quality, the turkeys will often be found eating wheat, barley, oats, courgettes, turnips and plenty of grass, all of which is produced on our doorstep and in our garden!

Intensively reared supermarket turkeys which have an average age of just 9 weeks! The age of a turkey has a huge effect on meat flavour, moisture and quality that’s why ours are at least 23 weeks old! Maturity of the birds enables different fat layers to be laid down (so you’ll have no dry turkey this year!)

Our birds are reared, processed & plucked on site with no travelling required. Why? We believe that using traditional hand plucking methods enhance food hygiene, reduce stress, increase shelf life and allow us to game hang the meat. All of these factors result in succulent, flavoursome and tender meat!

Our turkeys are hung and dry aged for 2 weeks unlike intensively reared supermarket turkeys that can be killed up to a month before Christmas and stored in carbon dioxide filled bags to keep them ‘fresh’ why? Game hanging our turkeys results in tender meat due to enzymes breaking down connective tissues, this causes a huge increase in flavour and texture
